I don’t know what exactly fascinates me in AR car showcase apps, maybe I just enjoy looking at beautiful-looking cars that I don’t get to see every day. In this post, we’ll take a close look at a recently released ARKit app by Visionaries 777 called W Motors.
What is W Motors?
With W Motors users can view and completely customize their own 2017 Motors Lykan HyperSport or the performance-focused 2018 W Motors Fenyr SuperSport cars.
W Motors is a Dubai-based car company which was established originally in Beirut, Lebanon in 2012 by Ralph R. Debbas. It’s the first Middle-Easy-based manufacturer of luxury sports cars.
According to W Motors page on Wikipedia, the company has three car models to date: Lykan HyperSport, a 6-cylinder 3.7-litre twin-turbo car with 780 hp. The second is the Lykan Roadster which is a limited edition car that only three of the forthcoming Lykan Roadsters will be sold out of the 5, where 2 used for crash tests. The third one is Fenyr SuperSport, a 4.0L twin-turbocharged Flay 6 with 900 hp.
By using this app, you can view and customize the Lykan HyperSport and Fenyr SuperSport cars.

Standard 3D Mode or Augmented Reality Mode
W Motors can display the two cars in either standard 3D view or in AR mode. Of course, the best way to view the car is in AR mode where you get to really appreciate their beauty, see them in 1:1 scale and get to “feel” the car like you experience it in a car showroom.
After a quick scan of the surface which ARKit requires, you can deploy the 3D model of the car of your choice, either the Lykan or the Fenyr. The cars are beautifully modeled. According to the official videos, the app uses real-time ambient lighting and captured reflections to give the car a realistic look that blends well with the ambient lighting of the environment.
Users can also rotate and scale the car so it can be viewed anywhere you want, even in a place with a very limited space.
W Motors is similar to apps like Audi Quattro coaster AR and BMW Visualizer. Once you spawn the car, you can than starts to customize it. You can change the exterior color, the rims, the calipers, turn on the headlights, open the car and engine doors, view the wheel’s structure, change the carbon color, etc. There are definitely lots of customization options here. I think the idea is to get people who order one of these cars, an option to fully customize it so it looks exactly how they want it to look.
I have to admit, Visionaries 777 did a fantastic job with this app. The 3D visuals are detailed and look impressive when you view it in augmented reality. Even if you don’t plan to buy this car, I recommend downloading and trying it out. I really enjoyed walking around the car, changing its colors, opening the doors and inspecting the interior. It’s probably one of the more impressive real-time interactive car showroom apps I’ve used to date.
It was also smart making it a hybrid app, so people who don’t have an ARKit compatible device can still enjoy this experience, but as I said, it feels so much better in AR, no doubt about it.
I think that Augmented Reality car showroom apps are a great sales tool. It gives people who can’t get to check the actual car, to get to see it in 1:1 scale wherever they are. Furthermore, it’s a great way to easily apply customizations without the need to look at pictures that show those different parts. You can’t make a picture of every type of customization variations, you will need billions of pictures for that. This is the main reason why an app like W Motors is such a useful and essential app for consumers planning to buy a new car.
