Sometimes I found myself in a mood to play some casual AR games. However, I liked to be challenged and therefore I prefer playing games that are more difficult and challenging. In this post, I want to list some of those ARKit games that will definitely keep you banging your head against the wall.
The games are listed in no particular order.
Fit In – Fit In is a fun and challenging endless runner ARKit iOS game. The AR part of the game didn’t excite me, but this ARKit game grants players with some good challanging gameplay experience as they try to move up and secure a better ranking on the global leaderboard. As plain as the game looks, it definitely has its own unique charm. I do recommend downloading and checking it out.
Let’s Stack AR! – Let’s Stack AR! is my favorite block stacking AR game on the App Store. It boasts super addictive gameplay mechanics that feels great in every tap that you make. The game has charming music that blends well with the colorful and cheerful visuals. A great casual AR game that will be liked kids and adults alike.
Bottle Flip Challenge AR – Bottle Flip Challenge AR is a fun target throwing game. I like the gameplay idea but the execution is far less than satisfying. More optimizations, better visuals, more game modes and a global leaderboard could have made it much better. There are better ARKit games than this, but because it is a challenging game, it had to be included on my list.
Can Knockdown AR – Can Knockdown AR is a great physics-based AR game that feels great to play in augmented reality. I like the relatively big life-size levels which perfectly fits this type of game. I personally prefer different control scheme for throwing the ball, but even like that, smashing cans in this game is a lot of fun. The level diversity, the realistic material rendering, the lighting, and animations all work properly together to provide players with an immersive Can Knockdown experience in augmented reality.
ARcade Plane – ARcade Plane is a fun and addicting ARKit game. It’s among those game that once you start it’s very hard to stop. The game boasts beautiful design, simplistic controls and nice visual and sound effect. It has a good progression system that includes achievements, global leaderboard, and unlockable airplanes. Overall, a fun little that is fun to play both indoors and outdoors.
Leap: Endless Run – LEAP Endless Run comes with a fun although limited AR mode. Still, the game plays differently and quite well in this mode. The game centers around very basic jumping mechanic and the fun factor actually lies in its difficulty. If you love casual yet challenging games or endless runners, in particular, I have no doubt that you will enjoy playing this game as well.
AR Mighty Angry Stunt Cars – Awkward and unintuitive control in AR with mediocre gameplay experience prevent this ARKit game from lifting off. The game does pose some challenges and forces the player to carefully plan and fine-tune his drive in order to finish a level. The game had some fun moments, but overall the entire AR gameplay experience wasn’t satisfying enough for me to recommend this game.
Meddling Martians AR – Meddling Martians AR sports an inventive, fun and stimulating AR gameplay experience like no other. The use of the entire level area for gameplay interaction makes it very immersive and physically gratifying. A game that seeks to impress on all fronts and manage to nail it right in most. A super fun game for all ages and it’s also free to play—what more do you need? Download it now!
AR Robot Runner – The jumping part of the game is fun but the game doesn’t reward the player for his progression in the game, there is no highscore or leaderboard and nothing to motivate the player to invest time in this game and coming back for more. The visuals are uninspiring and boring, all in all, a Skippable game in my opinion.
Dead Lands AR Zombies – Dead Lands AR Zombies doesn’t refresh over FPS formula. The sound effects and the weapon animation are great but it’s not enough to make the game take off in my opinion. The gameplay feels flat and uninspiring despite the great shooting experience. It’s still a fun shooting game, but unfortunately, the initial enjoyment didn’t last long for me.
Just don’t blame me if you get too frustrated playing any of those game. You asked for some hard and challenging AR iOS games, you got it!
