Today I went to the park to play the game Cosmic GO! and review it. The game was developed by Kohda Interactive. I love racing and driving games in augmented reality, but honestly, I didn’t know what to expect. The screenshots did a good impression, but I have fallen to this before, so I put my expectations in place.
It turned out to be one of the best AR driving/racing games that I’ve played to date. The controls felt good (although it takes some time to get used to it), the gameplay felt fresh and exciting, the augmented reality (AR) part was designed well and no big issues have bee detected.
It’s one of those games that are easy to play but hard to master. I really got into it and spend a lot of time outside trying to beat my own high score and progress through the different mini-games.
The game is kind of a mixture of other AR games that I enjoyed playing like powARdup, Lightstream Racer, RC Club AR Motorsports, and other AR games that I played. It just takes the good in many of these games and packs it into a great little augmented reality (AR) driving game like no other.
I made a full in-depth review about Cosmic GO! because how impressed I was with it. The game does have its issues and I had my own list of things that I just wished the developer added to it. For example, sound effects for intersecting with items, remove the permission screen each time the game starts, more level design variety, more mini-games, more types of power-ups, more entertaining progression system (e.g. unlocking items for cars), music tracks, and more.
However, overall, I had a great experience and had so much fun playing it outside today. It was beautiful weather, and I am glad that I got a chance to play a great AR game today.
If you love fast-paced drifting car racing games, you’ll enjoy this game a lot. Instead of cars, you have those hovering racing ships, which look really cool. The physics are nailed great in this game, and each racing ship has its own unique driving physics.
The game looks really nice in terms of 3D modeling and level design, simple, and mixed well with the environment. The levels are dynamic, and they change to reflect different mini-games as you progress through the game. It’s a single run, which players need to try to max out their score as much as possible under a time limit.
Cosmic GO! is the first AR game to receive AR Critic’s Editor’s Choice Award in 2019 – Congratulations!
I recommend watching the gameplay in my full review to fully understand what this game is all about. If you enjoy this video, please don’t forget to Like and Subscribe to my YouTube channel, it means a lot. Thanks.
