Black Friday Madness

Must-Have iOS AR Mobile Games – Black Friday 2017 Edition

Are you planning to buy the iPhone X or the iPhone 8 on Black Friday? Those are among Apple’s mobile devices that support ARKit, Apple’s Augmented Reality framework. This means that you once you have the iPhone X or iPhone 8 you can start playing ARKit games straight away. You don’t need any other accessories, just the phone and some spare time to have lots of fun.

I’ve been playing lots of AR games in the past month and a half.  There are more than 1000 AR apps out there, but only a small portion of them use ARKit. In my website, I’ve decided to focus on ARKit games, those who use Apple’s latest Augmented Reality technology and are supported by iPhone and iPad mobile devices with the A9 or better chipset. All the games that listed here are among my top favorite ARKit games that I got to play lately. I’m sure that you are going to be blown away by all of them, but of course, you are free to pick the ones that best fit your personal gameplay style.

I personally recommend trying different genres, because you might find out that a genre that you enjoy playing on your iPhone or iPad is fun to play in Augmented Reality (AR).

All of the games listed here work with the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Pro (9.7, 10.5 or 12.9) – both first-gen and 2nd-gen, iPad (2017), iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and iPhone X.

OK, without further ado let’s check out the list. These ARKit games are arranged in no particular order.

Kickerinho World

Kickerinho World is a superb freestyle football game featuring attractive visuals, a fun, and addictive gameplay experience, alongside an engaging Augmented Reality (AR) mode. It’s a great game for both kids and adults alike. Although the AR mode lacks the beautiful backgrounds that the Normal mode features, it felt really good playing it in AR and I actually enjoy playing it more in this mode.

Meddling Martians AR

Meddling Martians AR is one of my most favorite ARKit games for iPhone and iPad. I really like it because the virtual in this game almost feels physical and once you play the game you’ll get to see what I mean. Meddling Martians AR sports an inventive, fun and stimulating AR gameplay experience like no other. The use of the entire level area for gameplay interaction makes it very immersive and physically gratifying. A game that seeks to impress on all fronts and manage to nail it right in most. A super fun game for all ages and it’s also free to play.

Zombie Gunship Revenant AR is literally an exploding game. It sports really unique visuals like anything you’ve seen in an AR game before. It original visuals help contribute to a thrilling and realistic gameplay experience. Zombie Gunship Revenant AR redefines what is an action game in augmented reality. The game is very challenging and boasts some of the most authentic war experience I got to play in AR yet The shooting experience is accompanied by thrilling animations and sound effects (please put headphones on). Toy Clash AR

Toy Clash AR is one of those ARKit games that feels like a triple-A title in terms of visual and gameplay quality. It’s maybe not innovative as an AR game but it’s one of the most enjoyable ARKit games on the App Store. It’s a magnificent Tabletop strategy game that plays beautifully in augmented reality. It provides players with a fun and engaging gameplay experience. I love the art direction, animations, visual effects and sounds in this game. This game will provide you with hours of fun and challenging gameplay. It’s a great AR game by any mobile game development standard, please don’t skip this one.

GhosthuntAR: Survival

Three scary creatures with open mouthghosthuntAR: Survival might have a weird name, but this game will blow you away with its cool looking creatures and stunning vibrant visual effects. It’s an exciting take on the conventional AR first-person shooting experience. The shooting action feels great and the game has one of the most impressive visual effects I’ve seen in an ARKit game to date. The weapon and armor upgrade options add a bit of progression to make you enjoy a different shooting experience as you work towards achieving a higher score.

powARdup

powARdup is a fast-paced AR game that will get you hooked straight from the start. It does lack some features that could have made it great, yet, once you play it you won’t want to stop. Everything in this game screams quality: the visuals, the fluid gameplay AR experience, the physics and the unique Game Replay and Pause modes. This game is really fun to play in AR, I highly recommend downloading it, even if you aren’t into car games and such.

The Machines

The Macines ARKit game screenshotThe Machines not just looks great, it’s one of the best ARKit multiplayer games on the app store at the moment. For me, the game was an essential milestone for the AR game industry. It sports exquisite visuals with great attention to details. The gameplay is incredibly fun and the controls work fluently in augmented reality. The multiplayer matches are super fun and addictive. A superb multiplayer Real-time Strategy  AR game that drives players to continue to play more to improve their skills if they want to secure the top positioning in the global leaderboard.
