A few minutes ago I’ve decided to back Little Sophia project on Kickstarter. This is the first thing I backed ever and I feel proud of supporting Hanson Robotics with their amazing project.
For those who don’t know, Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hanson Robotics, a Hong Kong-based company. It’s a human-like robot packed with advanced AI and robotic research to deliver one of the most authentic human-like interactions we’ve seen by a, well, a machine. This robot utilizes advanced technologies to be able to be able to interact with humans with a natural language and continue to learn an evolve over time.
Now Hanson Robotics initiated a Kickstarter campaign for Sophia’s “little sister” called, well, “Little Sophia”. It’s a little toy robot (no offense meant)that was designed as a companion for kids at age 7-13. Little Sophia can walk, talk, sing, play games, tell jokes and alongside with the complementary software, she can be controlled, programmed and serve as an educational companion to help children learn about science in an interactive human-robot experience like no other.
I can’t recall being so excited about a project in the Robotics & AI field, especially considering the fact that I would, like from the movies, have my own robot which I can interact with, and I felt excited being able to support this effort in bringing Little Sophia, to life, literally.
Check out the project on Kickstarter and consider supporting the project.
