Color Go AR

Color Go AR – Game Review (iOS)

Color Go AR was released on the App Store a month ago, but only today I found out about it today decided to review it. Color Go AR is one of those very simple, difficult and addictive AR games that you either love or hate. It reminded of the iOS ARKit game Fit In but it plays in a much more simple form.

In Color Go AR you have to guide a color sphere through each obstacle o the same color. The obstacle formation and movement change every time you successfully passed the ball through the wall. If the sphere touches the wrong the wrong color it’s game over. The game does give you the option to continue where you left off in favor of watching a 30-second advert.

I liked the concept of the game. The game is fun and challenging. There are no power-ups, no visual effects, no shooting, no characters—just a primitive flash shapes and simple animation.

Color Go AR will force you to move a bit so you can pinpoint the sphere to the correct place without touching the wrong color. The game takes place in front of the place, so there is no need to rotate your body or move over to another location. You can just play is while standing in place and holding your iPhone or iPad device forward. The obstacles and the sphere are positioned in mid-air. This means that you can play it in seating or standing position without a problem.

I enjoyed playing this game much more than Squishy Hoops, which was way more difficult but very frustrating to play. I’m sure there are many people who are already fluid with Squishy Hoops. If you are searching for an even more challenging AR game, you probably want to give Squishy Hoops a try.

Color Go AR can be played with one hand with the iPhone. I’ve played it on my iPad, so I needed to use my two hands to play it. The game also has a colorblind mode and an online global leaderboard so you can compare your achievements versus those of other players from all around the world.

Color Go AR is a fun, challenging and addictive augmented reality game. It’s one of those games that can easily make a half an hour fly quickly. I think it’s nice having these type of fast-session games installed so you can play something in your free time or just when you want to take a break from doing other things that you do.

The being said, it brings nothing new and exciting to the AR realm, and therefore in that sense it’s quite disappointing. I’m sure you’ll have a good time playing it. It can get a mass appeal,  but I think it’s not one of those game that will give you a long-lasting experience. A nice casual AR game but nothing more.
