Snowbird animated short film

Snowbird – AR Animated Short Film now available (iOS/ARKit)

Snowbird is a short Augmented Reality animated short film that tells a story of porcelain creatures that come to life in a snow globe.  The film was written, animated and directed by Max Korman.

I can’t tell you how excited I am seeing a short film in AR. I was waiting for animators to present their talent using this new Augmented Reality medium.

There is something magical watching an animated short film taking place in your real world in AR. In fact, play it in the living room and outdoors in a dark environment and emotionally experienced slightly different. It just makes me think about future animated films that will be able to adapt to their surroundings like changing the look based on the surface you put it on based on the ambient light surrounding it. Snowbird doesn’t do it, but experiencing it for the first time made me think about the next evolution of these type of experiences in AR.

Snowbird was indeed short, but it was able to deliver a fantastic experience. I really love the characters, especially this cute little bird begging for attention. The music was spot on and wrapped you in a cheerful Chrismas spirit atmosphere.

If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy an animated short film in AR, this is your chance.

You can download it for free at the App Store here.
