AR Pro Pong is the second Beer Pong game that I’ve played so far, the first one was Beer Pong AR. I found the first one to be very lacking and I wonder how this Pong game will turn out to be.
In AR Pro Pong you need to throw a ball so it gets inside the beer glasses spread in front of you. You have a limited time to get the highest score possible. Each ball you successfully put in a glass grants you extra time, I think like 4 seconds if I remember correctly.
I found many problems with the game. First of all, the game isn’t difficult at all and you don’t have any limit on the number of balls you can throw. I found myself being able to play forever because you are going put a ball faster than the time ticking down to zero. Even if you don’t, it still turns out to be a very long an tedious gameplay experience.
Second, there is a virtual stone block that really doesn’t make any difference to the gameplay. I think it was supposed to make it harder to play, but it doesn’t.

Third, when you start the game, the game checked if you stand too close to the game area and it will alert you if you do. This supposes to prevent users from cheating by standing above a glass and just dropping the ball in very easily. The problem is that the check is only done when you start the game, and once the game starts you can just go and do just that, stand on top of a glass up close and just drop the balls in. Of course, it’s up to you whether you decide to cheat or not, but this is not fair towards other players who strive to climb up the global leaderboard fairly and play against people who cheat.

I like the user interface presentation, it looks really nice, but that’s about it. The game itself looks boring and uninspiring. There is an option to change the ball’s look but it doesn’t bring any life to what felt like a very monotonous gameplay experience. Even the physics felt wrong like there is a magnet that pulls the ball into the glass when it’s in close proximation. Beer Pong AR physics and gameplay mechanics felt much better in comparison. The gameplay rules are different but to be honest, none of them were able to deliver a fun gameplay experience. AR Pro Pong features a nice selection of achievements which is nice, but it didn’t make the game any less boring than it already is.
I did like the endless Beer Pong gameplay, the high-score board that shows the bounce and direct hits, but the game isn’t challenging, so what’s the point of prolonging this tiresome experience. After like five minutes I was so bored that I had to put it down. I have to admit that when I first saw the great-looking home screen, I thought that it’s going to be a much better game than Beer Pong AR, but this wasn’t the case.
The game mentioned different type of cups and obstacles, but I didn’t even get to a point where encountered different obstacles or different cups. If they were, I didn’t feel any difference while playing a few minutes straight. If not, how much time I have to play to get to a point where the game becomes more challenging and fun to play?
Overall, I finished playing AR Pro Pong very unsatisfied. It’s not like there aren’t ways to make this game more fun and challenging, there definitely is, but no developer has come out with an AR version of Beer Pong that is fun and challenging. A skippable game, unless you really want to play a Beer Pong AR game for any reason.
