Castle Defender AR Game Review

Castle Defender AR is an endless shoot’em up ARKit game where you need to stop soldiers from invading your castle. Once you place the castle on the floor, soldiers will fly down from the sky using their parachutes and try to invade your castle.

You need to take them down as fast as possible, hopefully, while they are in mid-air. Ammo is very limited, so you need to make sure not to miss shots. Some soldiers will drop ammo on the floor, so make sure you tap on the left side to pick them out. Once you are out of ammo or the castle health reaches zero it’s game over.

You can shoot the soldiers while in mid-air as well.

The gameplay is exactly the same as in Crazy Monsters Strike AR.  In Crazy Monsters Strike AR, instead of having soldiers you have those really cute little monsters and instead of a castle, you have a portal. There the monsters also descend from the sky using parachutes, it’s almost exactly the same game but with a different theme.

I personally prefer the Crazy Monsters Strike AR, at least there you enjoy shooting whacky monsters instead of just soldiers like in almost any other shooter out there. At least the theme is original. I also really like the animations and the splashy visual effects.

Make sure you don’t waste ammo and pick up ammo crates as fast as possible.

Castle Defender AR just doesn’t have the same charm as Crazy Monsters Strike AR. Both games are just plain shooter AR games and without a nice touch of originality and character, the fall flat.

The game features a global leaderboard. I was able to top the global leaderboard, but I didn’t feel a sense of achievement at all.

The difficulty increases over time, so make sure you watch out from soldiers in all directions.

By the way, I like the tap-to-grab control. I hate when I need to crouch to pick up something from the floor. I’ve played other games where I needed to crouch to pick up ammo and it was very glitchy and most importantly, very annoying to do it physically while playing.

Overall, a simple AR shooter that lacks character and one that becomes very boring very quickly. The voices in the game are kind of funny, but that isn’t something that the game can rely on to be entertaining and engaging. It’s interesting how different a game feels when you change the theme and use different characters. It just feels more invigorating and fun to play. If you are into such a game, I recommend trying Crazy Monsters Strike instead.
