Yesterday I went out on a trip to Himeji Castle in Himeji, Japan. I was already starting to use Puppetoon (still in beta as of the time of making this video) even before I made up there. I wanted to continue using the app in order to get the feeling of continuity and see how retention will take place and what other features might be needed to make this type of virtual puppeteering augmented reality app more fun and useful for its user base.
There are many things to talk about and I spread them across videos. One of the more important things is to try to pass that message so people who see my videos can fully understand the concept behind it and see why those features can truly enhance the user experience with this app or similar virtual puppeteering apps for augmented reality or for virtual reality.
So we went on the trip, me and my little cute puppet. I didn’t even give it a proper name, I need some time to decide. Anyways, the moment I woke up in the morning, I felt excitement popping it out and sharing my moment with it. It was a bit weird because I was actually building kind of a relationship with a character that I myself is part of its personality.
Continuing my journey with Puppetoon app, I thought to myself that it would be amazing if there was a social hub where I can create my own episodes of me and my cute little fellow. Furthermore, if I am already creating my own episodes, I want to have more control over the characters. I want that character to be unique to me, get a sense of belonging and not seeing it being hijacked by other people who use it differently.
For this to happen, we need to have a virtual character customization option. This way, I can design the character I want to use, have control over its voice (the pitch for example), etc. This way, I know that my character is unique to my own video series and people will come to see it because of what it is, how it looks, how it behaves, and so on.
To demonstrate this, I took my character, which is the same one that anyone else can use, the one with the high pitch voice, to a trip to Himeji Castle and I wanted to share my experience with you and talk about this features. Hopefully, after you finish watching the video, you’ll have a good understanding of the points that I am trying to make.
I love Puppetoon a lot, but just keep in mind that the app is still in beta, so things might be changed, fixed, removed and improved by the time the app is fully released to the App Store.
