Playing Ghostbusters World at the beach

Playing Ghostbusters World at the Beach

If you follow my blog, you know how much I love playing augmented reality (AR) games outdoors. There are so many memorable moments outdoors, ones that I cannot forget. I still remember how much I enjoyed playing Defend It AR on the wall outside my house, playing Lightstream Racer at the metro train station in Seoul or playing W.AR Augmented Reality at the park.

Now with Ghostbusters World, same as The Walking Dead: Our World, I got another opportunity to get outdoors and playing an AR game. In fact, I spent a few hours every day playing that game. I first did it to write a review about the game, but I still continue it on a regular basis because it motivates me to stay active, aside from enjoying playing it in general.

Today I’ve decided a bicycle and ride a few miles until the beach. I bought a mobile phone bicycle stand just for that, so I can see which ghosts are popping out as I ride the bike. Of course, all my attention was on the road, but I peaked from time to time to see if some rare ghosts pop out. It would be nice if the game had a sound notification when a rare ghost appear.

I finally arrive at an area close to the beach and returned the rented bicycle to the station. I rode 50 minutes in total. After getting down, I’ve discovered a new rare ghost that I don’t have and after an intense close fight, I was able to capture it. The name of the ghost is ‘Ellen Gold’, just so you know.

After that, I continue walking until the beach, which is about 30 minutes walking. Once I arrived at the beach I start playing the game in augmented reality and create a video to share it with your guys.

It was a hot day, and a perfect day to go to the beach. Unfortaiontely, I didn’t wear anything that is suitable to enter the water. Anyways, with all the equipment that I had, I would probably wouldn’t enter the water anyways, because it might get stolen.

Playing Ghostbusters World at the beach was so much fun. This game is very photogenic and looks great both at night and daylight as well. Although Ghostbusters World AR isn’t what I call a great AR experience in terms of technology implementation and immersion, still, I enjoy playing it and it does have its own advantages as I mentioned in the review.

Although I didn’t discover any cool new ghosts at the beach, I still enjoy playing there. I enjoy combining the physical exercise, alongside the calm walking session at the beach while playing Ghostbusters World at the same time.

I do intend to do it again, maybe next time focus on farming bosses spirit shards, which I start doing only recently after investing time farming Stay Puft spirit shards at the park last week.

There is definitely something exciting playing on-location augmented reality games like Ghostbusters World, and although I’ve spent many hours playing it, I still enjoy it like it was the first day, which is quite surprising, to be honest. I didn’t think the excitement will last that long.

Is it the ultimate AR experience I eager to play? far from it, but it doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy it. If you haven’t played Ghostbusters World, I highly recommend checking it out. There are plenty of gameplay videos on my YouTube channel, some really cool videos, so don’t forget to check them out to see what this AR game is all about.
