Trap Climbing is a location-based augmented wall AR game in VR Zone, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The place has many VR activities, but I came to see if they have AR related ones, and this is the most interesting one that I got to see.
This experience is for 1 to 5 players. Users need to climb up a 7-meter wall. Players compete who can reach the top of the wall and push the button at the top. There are different levels. Higher levels have higher difficulty program. Players need to put their legs and hands over dynamically marked rocks, climb up while avoiding falling giant boulders, traps and as jets of air gush out.

The wall is beautifully augmented with geometric-shaped dynamically changing rocks, flying butterflies, and beautiful stylized background effects.
Of course, this is a wall climbing activity for all intents and purposes, so uses are equipped with a helmet, shoes, safety rope and other accessories to protect them from damage.
When I was there I obviously tried out the many other VR experiences any enjoyed every moment of it. I can’t even remember how many hours I was there, quite a few. It’s a place that when you start to experience the activities it has to offer, you don’t want to get out, seriously.
If you ever come to Tokyo, I definitely recommend visiting the VR Zone in Shinjuku and checking out the virtual resort activities like the Trap Climbing and Niagara Drop.
