In this review, we’ll take a look at Mr. Body, an educational app for the Merge Cube. It’s the first educational app that I’ve tried on my Merge Cube. So is there anything special that this app can do that a standard app can’t or is it just a gimmick?
I love educational apps and in my opinion Augmented Reality makes the learning experience even more exciting. FishingGO, JigSpace and Math Ninja AR are three great examples for that, so I wondered how immersive the learning experience would be using the Merge Cube?
Mr. Body turned out to be an amazing app to teach children and adults about the human anatomy. Toe be honest, I feel embarrassed to tell you that after toying around with this app, I found out how little I know about the human body. I thought that some human organs are located in different parts of the body. I won’t write it here because I think you are going to laugh at me so hard in the comment section, so I’ll save myself that extra embarrassment :).
So what’s so cool about Mr. Body?
First of all, I want to say that don’t expect a Medical degree grade in-depth educational content here, it mostly designed to encourage learning more about the human body. Of course, adults can benefit from it as well Yes, I’m looking at myself now).
What makes this app cool is that you can actually hold a little human body in your hand and inspect it from different angles by rotating the Merge Cube in your hand.
The moment you hold the Merge Cube in your hand it turns into a small doctor’s room with Mr. Body inside. Mr. Body is a cute little human standing inside that room and displaying its organs for all of you to see.
I think it’s a great idea, considering the fact that you can view the organs from any angle by just rotating the cube in your hand. Don’t forget you can tap on the organ to get a larger display of it and read more detailed information about it.
Limited amount of internal organs
Mr. Body provides some concise information about some organs that most of us know of like the heart, brain, liver, lungs and more. However, it doesn’t cover many other internal organs, so It allows only a limited look at the internal organs of the human body.
Having said that, assuming that this app is mainly aimed at kids, this might not be a bad idea focusing on the main organs than flooding the child with lots of information.
Conclusion
If you are a parent and want your child make your child engage in learning more about the human body, I think Mr. Body is a fantastic app for this. Of course, there are many other more professional apps like Human Anatomy Atlas 2017 that are much more detailed and professional, but they are not meant for children of course. If I had a kid, I would definitely let him play with this app. I’m sure after toying with it for 5 minutes, he would have known much more about the human body than me.
